ARC August: Week 3 Recap!

Work is kicking my behind, and because I am behind on AP work I haven't had much time to read. I read two though this weeks, and they weren't bad so YAY for the small wins! 

Week 2 Recap ( 8/15 - 8/16) 

9. Truest by Jackie Lea Sommers (Rating: ☆☆☆☆)

This book was a pleasant surprise. I originally wasn't going to put a rush on this one, and wait longer but I just read the first page and suddenly I was half way done.

Young Widows Club by Alexandra Coutts (Rating: ☆☆☆)

Well, I liked this one but I also didn't. It is very complicated to be honest. My biggest question is: Girl, where was your father during all this!?

ARC August: Week 2 Recap!

I finally pulled myself out of the mini reading slump I was in! Yay! So far I knocked of a lot of ARCs they I kept procrastinating on. Naturally I request more on NetGalley so my review ration stayed the same. I DNFed a few more then I would have liked this week, but I am not going to bother myself with something I am not liking. 

Week 2 Recap ( 8/8 - 8/14) 

5. Dreamland by Robert L. Anderson (Rating: ☆☆☆☆)

I was quite surprised with this one. I literally had no interest in reading it (I did have interest when I requested it) but I was quickly drawn into the dreamworlds that Robert created. I pretty much devoured this in only a few hours. 

6. Own Me (Silver Strands #3) by Lexi Scott (Rating: ☆☆☆☆)

This is the first Silver Strands book that I have read, so eventually I will have to catch up on the other books. But I was looking for a New Adult fix and this satisfied that craving. The romance was really cute. I'm having a hard tine writing my review though... 

7. We'll Never Be Apart by Emiko Jean (Rating: ☆☆☆☆)

I actually really liked this one. I kept putting it to the side, but it was a quick read. Plus, look at the cover. It would have been crazy to pass it up! 

Mirrored by Alex Flinn (DNF)

I never have luck with Alex Flinn books so I wasn;t expecting anything when I went into this one. I think my issue with this book was more me then anything. DNF @ 23%

Da Vinci's Tiger by Laura Malone Elliott (DNF)

I was really looking forward to this one too. I've taken four years of Italian and the culture was confusing me. It was rich on the culture, but story wise it was lacking. DNF @ 15% 

8. Newt's Emerald by Garth Nix (Rating: ☆☆)

This was my first Garth Nix book and I am not impressed. To be honest, after about 25% I got bored and skimmed thorough the rest of it to get the general idea. *Hides face*

ARC August: Week 1 Recap!

This week started rocky, I didn't officially start my first book until the second day of ARC August, and I started my new job that is kicking my behind into next month. But, I had a pretty good reading week. I wasn't even expecting to finish any books. 

Progress (8/1-8/7)

1. Hunter (Hunter #1) by Mercedes Lackey (DNF)

The first 50 pages was nothing but an info dump. It wasn't even interesting. The author threw things at you and never bothered to explain them too you. By 50 pages I would have enjoyed some dialogue also. I will give it another shot in a week or two. But I am not getting my hopes up. 

2. The Lies About Truth by Courtney C. Stevens  (Rating: ☆☆☆☆)

This book was beautiful. It shattered my heart into a million pieces, fixed it, and then repeated the process over again. All I am going to say is everyone should add this to their TBR! 

3. Gamma Rift (The Trans-Galactic Insurrection Series) by Kalli Lanford (Rating: ☆☆☆)

I had several issues with this one. The plot and idea was interesting but the characters lacked and the romance was rushed. Also, the sex scenes were strange. Which can be because Garran was an Alien and America was human, but I don't know. 

4. Need by Joelle Charbonneau (Rating: ☆☆☆☆)

I hated all the characters except Kaylee. But the idea behind Need was really cool. A social experiment gone wrong? It was something that kept me up all night reading. It changed POVs too many times for my liking though. 

That is it for week one! I ended up requesting and getting approved for more books on NetGalley so my ratio went down rather then up.

Take Back My Life Post (ARC August Starts!)

Today is the first day of ARC August! Octavia @ ReadSleepRepeat put together ARC August as a chance for her and other fellow bloggers get caught up on their ARCs. I've been slipping on ARCs and I really think this is going to help me catch up on them all again!

 Since my sign up post I received some new ARCs and read ones already on my list. Here is what I have left to read: 

 

My goal is to read at least 18 of these ARCs during the month of August!

ARC August (I Signed Up!)

Here is the run down of the rules: 

• It may be a physical ARC or and eARC but it MUST be an ARC

• Yes it can be an ARC that has released as long as it’s an ARC I’m not going to nit pick much

• HAVE FUN WITH THIS! Feeling like you are being “forced” to read is the best way turn a fun event into a yucky obligation.

• Update post! I personally will do a post for each Saturday in August but that’s just me. You can update once a week, every other week or once for the whole darn event. This update can be in the form of a blog or tumblr post, vlog, link to your “ARC August 2015″ shelf or even an instagram pic! I want to make this as easy and low pressure as possible for you.

My goal is to read between  15-20+ ARCs in the month of August

That is 27 books! I do plan on reading some before ARC August starts so the list will be a little shorter when the time comes. But yes, I have a problem with requesting too many eARCs *sigh*
