2021 Blogging Resolutions!

It's officially 2021, which means it's a clean slate in terms of resolutions. And what a year it's been! Here's what we're doing here on the blog today -- first, we're going to be analyzing our 2020 resolutions to see which of those we've achieved, and then we'll talk about our goals for 2021! So without further ado, let's get into it.

2020 Resolution Analysis:

1. Read more books! This seems like it's our goal every year. Granted, when we made 2020's resolution list, we had no idea that there was a pandemic on the horizon, and that really slowed down our reading for this year. This was the first year that we actually ever even lowered our Goodreads goals.

2. Review more books! Another one we didn't accomplish this year. We had less reviews than in previous years, but this was also the year that several things happened: the pandemic, Jessica graduating undergraduate school and starting graduate school, Amber going back to school, Emily starting her nursing clinicals, etc. So it was a really chaotic year for everyone, which meant less reading time.

3. Attend more book signings and events. This is another one that didn't really happen, but again, when we made this list, we had no idea what the rest of 2020 had in store for us.

4. Attend BookExpo again! Alright, this one just made us sad.

5. Work with more debut authors. This is one that we actually did and ending up loving! We're on our third year of working closely with debut authors!

6. Getting a job in publishing. While none of us have a full-time job yet, we're still working on this one. Jessica interned at Little, Brown and Company for a whole year, though, and absolutely loved it!

7. Consistently post on Instagram. Another one that we actually achieved! We've been posting way more consistently there, so you should check us out!

8. Dive into genres that are out of our comfort zone. This is one that we've done a little bit of. While 2020 was a dumpster fire that required a lot of comfort reading, we still managed to try some new things. Jessica, for example, read a lot more graphic novels than she had any other year!

9. Become more fluent in Photoshop. Amber upped her skills this year!

10. Have our own domain. This was one of our major goals for 2020, but circumstances got in the way and we weren't able to make it happen. But hopefully we can accomplish this next year!

All in all, it looks like we accomplished some things, but this year contained a lot of unexpected chaos and hardships for the entire world, and some of the things we planned on accomplishing weren't able to happen. But we definitely still achieved some things on our list! 2020 was a chaotic year for us and we are looking forward to 2021! And now for....

Our 2021 Resolutions:

1. Read more books! Just in general, 2020 destroyed our reading mojo. All three of us have been reading a lot slower than we normally do, so we want to fix that in this upcoming year.

2. Review more books! Toward the end of the year last year, we slacked off with reviews because life got really busy and chaotic. So we want to review more books this year than we did last year.

3. Hopefully (actually) get a job in publishing this year. It would be really nice to have our dream job, that's for sure1

4. Get our own domain. We didn't get to do this last year, so here's to hoping that it happens this year!

5. Catch up on our ARC lists. Amber has a habit of requesting a lot of ARCs and then having a huge pile, so one of her goals is to catch up on that! And in general, we just want to catch up on our TBR lists.

6. Continue our work with debut authors. We've been loving our debut author features and we want to keep up with them! Especially with some fun giveaways and other posts sprinkled in there, too.

7. Host some fun new events! We have some exciting things in the works that we can't talk much about at the current moment, but hopefully we'll have some news soon! So it's looking like this might be a promising one...;-)

8. Make more fun graphics! We love creating graphics, but as of right now, Amber is the only one who is really great at it. So we want to all up our skills in that area!

9. Attend more author events! Whether in-person or virtual, depending on what 2021 has in store for us. But we want to attend more of them because the ones we've gone to in the past have been so much fun!

So those are our blogging goals for 2021! What are yours? Comment down below and let us know!

Here's to a great start to an amazing 2021, and we hope everyone stays healthy and that things go well!

Amber's NetGalley Pile! (Part 2!)

Happy Monday! 🤩 I did a NetGalley pile a few months and it was a lot of fun to make and I loved hearing what everyone was excited to read. So, I made an updated one with mostly new titles that I have been approved for! I'm not going to lie, I get request happy and start requesting anything that catches my eye. Which tends to get me in a lot of trouble. Luckily, I have a lot of free time at the moment, so I hope to blow through this list pretty quick!

If you aren't similar with NetGalley or what it is, check out this post to learn more about here!

Fall 2020 Titles:

2021 Titles:

I am super excited for all of these titles, but Phoenix Flame, Dustborn and These Violent Delights are at the top of my anticipation lists!

Have you read any of these yet or are you looking forward to them? What books have you  read from NetGalley recently? Let me know in the comments below!

Amber's NetGalley Pile! 😅

Happy Thursday! 🤩 I haven't done a list post in a while and while I was drafting out some posts to do this one hit me like a bag of bricks. Why not do a post on the books that I have requested and been approved for on NetGalley? I'm not going to lie, I get request happy and start requesting anything that catches my eye. Which tends to get me in a lot of trouble. Luckily, I have a lot of free time at the moment, so I hope to blow through this list pretty quick!

I decided to break this list down into two parts, books that haven't been released yet and then books that haven't been published. Yes, that's how far behind I am.

Books Yet To Be Released:

Books Already Released:

The funny story behind Gravemaidens and Spin the Dawn is that I already read them and loved them. I just never got around to writing their reviews and now it's been months and I need a refresher on them. The other books though? I have my work cut out for me. 24 books and 6 weeks before Lush opens back up and I get back to work. Let's see if I can do it!

Have you read any of these yet or are you looking forward to them? What books have you  read from NetGalley recently? Let me know in the comments below!
