Title: Bring Me Their Hearts
Author: Sara Wolf
Summary: Zera is a Heartless – the immortal, unageing soldier of a witch. Bound to the witch Nightsinger ever since she saved her from the bandits who murdered her family, Zera longs for freedom from the woods they hide in. With her heart in a jar under Nightsinger’s control, she serves the witch unquestioningly. Until Nightsinger asks Zera for a Prince’s heart in exchange for her own, with one addendum; if she’s discovered infiltrating the court, Nightsinger will destroy her heart rather than see her tortured by the witch-hating nobles. Crown Prince Lucien d’Malvane hates the royal court as much as it loves him – every tutor too afraid to correct him and every girl jockeying for a place at his darkly handsome side. No one can challenge him – until the arrival of Lady Zera. She’s inelegant, smart-mouthed, carefree, and out for his blood. The Prince’s honor has him quickly aiming for her throat. So begins a game of cat and mouse between a girl with nothing to lose and a boy who has it all. Winner takes the loser’s heart. Literally.
Today on the blog we have a guest review from Heather over at NightlyReading! She was kind enough to stop by and review an advanced copy of Bring Me Their Hearts and share her thoughts on it, and we couldn't be more excited to have her here as our guest reviewer for today! So without further ado, let's get into it!
If anyone is wandering whether they should pick up this book…my answer would be a thousand times YES!!!!
Zera is a Heartless, meaning a witch has her heart in a jar on a mantle which turned Zera into a monster of sorts. She can control the hunger by what she eats and the witch is her ruler/protector. Her witch sends her on a mission and as her reward for completing her mission, she will earn back her heart. Her mission, you ask? Get the Prince to fall in love with her and steal his heart giving him her same fate. Can she do it?
I loved the cast of characters in this book and I was hooked from the very first chapter. I could tell that Zera had that snarky whit that I enjoyed in my female heroine. I also liked the fact that it was easy to tell when Zara’s monster had taken over.
There is no insta-love in this story which is very refreshing. I must add that if you have a weak stomach, this may not be the story for you. It was not horribly graphic but there are some parts that may make some squeamish. I personally love that factor of the storyline…but hey, I am a little strange:)
Thanks to Entangled Teen for the adorable surprise box of goodies and the book! I adored it and cannot wait for the next installment!
