Let me take a moment to talk about the cover. It is so darn pretty! I mean, it is probably known by now that I like pretty things and a pretty cover will draw me right in. Besides the pretty cover I was looking for an amazing story and that is what I got!

Coral & Bone is a breathe of fresh air in the YA genre, it is filled with action, adventure and mystery right from the start. I found myself up all night just to see what would happen next. The setting was amazing. Daune was descriptive, making me picture the realm of Elosia clearly in my head.

I liked Halen as a main character, though I was thrown of that she was fifteen (I read more upper YA and NA now so that is probably the reason I expected her to be older. Anyway:) her story was frustrating. I was getting frustrated along side her because I wanted more information. You have this beautiful realm, a really attractive boy and then this huge secret, you are going to want to know more! Character wise those there was an interesting mix and I enjoyed them. I wished to know a little more about Dax then we actually got though.

I feel like this is one of those reviews where I will giveaway something unintentionally and I really hate doing this. Overall though Daune created a beautifully written fantasy story with action, adventure, and magick all rolled into one.

RATING: ★★★★

I write stories about magick, love and dark creatures lurking in the shadows. When I'm not lost in Edit Land you can find me reading a book from my towering TBR pile or at the movie theater nibbling licorice. I don't have a lucky number, but my favorite time is 11:11. I completely believe that the fortunes found inside cookies will come true and that you must be careful when wishing on stars. I live on an island, so if you want to visit you'll need a boat, and if you want to survive the passage, be sure to bring candy for the mermaids.
