Summary: When Paige Townsen, a young unknown, gets cast in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a crowded movie set on the shores of Maui, and is spending quality time with her co-star Rainer Devon, one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive. But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie’s famous love triangle, Paige’s crazy new life gets even crazier.

I received an ARC copy of Famous in Love by my good friend Dana over at Dana Square as part of the first ARC in our traveling ARC program, The Bloggerhood of the Traveling ARC. (Get it? Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants??) Anyway, as the summary explains, Paige is a super-average teen girl in Portland with dreams of stardom but feeling as if they're just that--dreams. It isn't until she lands the role of August in the hit book-turned-movie Locked that her dreams become a reality.

And then, as all teenage stardom romances go, Paige falls for her co-star, Rainer. And then has a spark with her other co-star and sworn enemy of Rainer, Jordan. What's a girl to do?

I enjoyed this book so much that it took me less than 12 hours to devour the whole thing, which is pretty much iconic this time of year--instead of doing summer assignments and prepping myself for school next week, I shoved everything aside as I battled with one-more-chapter disease and kept turning page after page to find out what would happen next.

(Brief note: And can I just say, that ending severely frustrated me until I found out that Rebecca Serle is writing a sequel. I just sat there dumbfounded, asking myself over and over, the book is just ending like that? I instilled some panic in myself when I got to page 310 and had only 10 pages left and not nearly enough of my questions were resolved. Thank goodness for sequels, because I'll be eagerly anticipating this one!)

Rebecca Serle is a promising writer (although this isn't her first book), and she has remarkable talent. The voice is Paige is so real and down to earth, which is especially important in a book with a plot such as this one--too many regular-girl-turned-celebrity books have the main character immediately immerse herself in perfect, pampered stardom, but it doesn't really work that way.

The only thing that kept me from giving this book a full five stars was the prologue. I discussed it with Dana and we both agreed that it was an unnecessary spoiler that right away took some of your questions away, so while you're reading the book the main thing on your mind is "when will I get to the part where this happens?" :-( If the prologue had been removed, maybe I wouldn't have gone into the book searching for a specific scene that I already knew would happen.

All in all, Famous in Love was a quick and really enjoyable read that I couldn't get enough of. I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel and I can't wait to see what else Rebecca Serle has in store! This ARC is headed off to another awesome blogger friend of ours, Ri

More news on our traveling ARC ideas soon--and we want YOU to get involved next time! ;-)

  1. YES! I agree with everything you have said. THAT ENDING so frustrating. The sequel isn't promoted enough on goodreads. I thought this was a standalone! The prolouge was so not needed. It also made the choice of guy more predictable. Glad you enjoyed this! I am so excited for more Traveling ARC Tours

    1. I'm excited too!! And yeah, I feel like the prologue took away any chance of suspense on who she ends up with.
